The team…

We are looking to offer a fantastic opportunity to a talented and committed individual to lead our Data Engineering team. This is a new team in the Council with the key aim of establishing and maintaining our Fabric data platform and its data pipelines. We work closely with our data analysts to collect, ingest and merge data into data models that will provide insights into how we can improve the Council’s service delivery and the lives of the people of Gateshead.

 

About the role….

You will be responsible for:

  • The development and implementation of our Fabric data platform, ensuring it is optimised and configured correctly to deliver high quality data solutions that meet the needs of the Council.
  • Leading and managing our team of data professionals, providing mentoring and guidance.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and delivering scalable data solutions.
  • Ensuring data quality, integrity, and security across all data processes.
  • Driving continuous improvement in data engineering practices and processes
  • Managing project timelines, resources and budgets effectively

You should have:

  • At least one year’s proven experience of team management
  • Three or more years proven experience as a data engineer
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or similar data/IT related subject
  • Proficiency in working with large datasets, data modelling, ETL processes and data warehousing
  • Strong skills in managing data platforms and related technologies
  • Excellent leadership, communication and project management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and have strong problem-solving skills
