The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) has a great opportunity for a Data Scientist to join their team. The successful candidate will support the delivery of analytical solutions to meet business needs, to transform its use of data and improve the quality of the data aligned to the MI & Data Analytics strategy. You will be a key part of an analytics team and to support the growth of the MI & Data Analytics community.

This exciting role will have you working as part of a small and collaborative specialist team of circa 4 or 5 who provide essential support for the in-service submarine team providing data analytic feedback to support critical decision making.

You will be working with internal and external stakeholders across the enterprise, such as industry partners, waterfront teams and the Royal Navy.

Whilst flexible working will be available, candidates will be expected to be onsite for approx. 3 days per week.

Whilst on site, you’ll experience our impressive range of on-site facilities including a restaurant and coffee bistros and parking. Our sports facilities include a fully equipped gym and sports hall with bookable classes, as well as a squash court, tennis courts and a football pitch.

Please note that this role is Reserved (open to sole UK Nationals only) and you will be required to undergo a security clearance (SC) check.

Responsibilities

· Gather, analyse, explore and visualise the data to present the ‘story’ of the data in a meaningful way.

· Support the development and application of the data governance processes.

· Identify patterns and trends to share insights with the team to inform business decisions.

· Regularly use intellectual curiosity to explore data, models and software applications to support data mining and more efficient data manipulation and visualisation.

· Work collaboratively with team members and actively grow your analytical and data handling knowledge.

· Be an active part of the MI & Data Analytics community, attend meetings and participate in working groups.

Person specification

To be successful with your application, you’ll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

· Experience of analysis of data or production of management information in an organisation.

In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competences and behaviours will be assessed at interview:

· MI and Analytics – Practitioner

· Data Literacy – Supervised Practitioner

· Working Together – CSBC 3
