Job Description

Technical-Leadership role, delivering groundbreaking data-products in a VC-backed data & analytics scale-up

Company Overview:
Tallarium is a rapidly growing London-based capital-market-data scale-up that is transforming institutional energy trading. In a world where large-scale B2B derivative trading still relies on outdated systems like messenger chat, telephone, and Excel spreadsheets, we’re breaking new ground by providing cutting-edge pre-trade data & analytics that will revolutionize the industry. We already power trading desks at Fortune 500 companies and work closely with industry leaders, but there are still many new and exciting problems to solve. Backed by two institutional VC investors and several major strategic players, we are poised for rapid growth and are seeking exceptional talent to join our team.

About the Role:
As the Lead Data Scientist at Tallarium, you will be instrumental in delivering our accurate forward curves to globally influential companies, using our extensive pricing datasets. Collaborating with the engineering and product teams, you will initiate, plan and build new and exciting greenfield data products, and take the lead on all things data science, providing crucial advice to the CTO and CEO. You will also get the chance to mentor junior software engineers to build their capabilities.

Your Impact:

  • Using our unique price datasets to bring much-needed forward curves to our market
  • Design and build greenfield data products with the wider product team
  • Using your knowledge and experience to guide our data strategy
  • Driving our internal data-science capabilities and practices across the team

About You:

  • 5-8 years of experience in data-science roles (including Python and NumPy experience)
  • Top-tier University degree in a STEM subject (PhD not a requirement, but highly valued)
  • Experience working with software engineers to deliver products to market
  • Exceptional written and spoken communication skills
  • Experience with numerical optimisation problems (especially forward-curve modelling with large data sets)

The Opportunity:

  • Join a fast-paced startup at the forefront of transforming institutional energy trading
  • Lead the data function in a data company – your work will materially change Tallarium
  • Take charge of your own personal development and career growth as Tallarium grows
  • Working alongside a fantastic team of enthusiastic, and curious problem solvers
Based on experience
Join Tallarium and be part of our journey to revolutionize energy trading with groundbreaking data & analytics.
