Due to expansion and growth we have a fantastic and rare opportunity for a Data Scientist to join our Central Data Office. The data scientist’s role is to explore and analyse the business’s data, revealing opportunities to add new value to the business and increase profitability. This is fantastic opportunity to really contribute and impact in the way SJP operate across our business.


You will be proactive, analytical and confident in talking and championing new ideas and process’s to a variety of key contacts and business experts. Have a curiousness and inquisitive approach to work. Excellent attention to detail and a creative flare for problem solving and critical thinking.


  • Using automated tools to extract data from a variety of sources
  • Develop and maintain our databases and data systems for data analytics
  • Performing analysis to assess the quality and meaning of data
  • Use statistical tools to identify, analyse, and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets and predict outcomes base on changes in behaviours
  • Analyse local, national, and global trends that impact both SJP and the Finance industry.
  • Assign value to business functions so that business performance can be assessed and compared over periods of time.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise to the Central Data Office around data tools
  • Develop advanced statistical models and predictive analytics to forecast business performance and identify growth opportunities.
  • Advise on the best ways to visualise data and tell data stories
  • Collaborate with internal team-leads and analysts to test, clean, and standardised data to meet the business requirements
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, practices, methodologies and emerging technologies in data analysis and business intelligence


Whilst we do not require any formal qualifications or experience to be successful, demonstrating any of the below attributes will hold a distinct advantage

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Data Science, Actuarial science, Computer Science, Mathematics or STEM
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite including Excel
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualisation tools i.e Tableau, Power BI, or similar
  • Experience with statistical analysis and data manipulation using tools such as Python, R, or SQL
  • Experience in using PowerBI, Snowflake, Tableau architecture, Tableau Data Prep
