Are you ready to play a pivotal role in reshaping the future through the power of data? Join our dynamic team in Weybridge as a Data Scientist, collaborating closely with the Head of Digital Transformation, AI & Automation.
As a key member of the team, you will deliver on the Digital Transformation objective to leverage machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to drive our ongoing digital transformation. With significant data integration and governance initiatives in flow it is now possible to transform our ways of working by fully exploiting our rich and integrated data sources. You will join a small and talented team of data scientists and collectively take ownership of these efforts, identify the biggest impact opportunities for ML interventions, and operationalize the delivery of machine learning projects.
In this role you will collaborate with other Digital Transformation areas including BI and reporting and data governance. The Digital Transformation team also works with other data focused units on Sony Europe, and across Sony organizations. You will ensure we follow standard methodologies learned from these groups and will proactively share our findings and develop opportunities for collaboration.
Your role will involve working across three areas: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Engineering and Data Organisation and Management.
You will:
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: Work with business stakeholders to conceptualize, prototype, build and deploy machine learning projects. Demonstrate impact of machine learning through increased efficiency and effectiveness of business processes.
  • Data Engineering: Build data pipelines needed for AI and ML applications. Work with Global Information Services data services support for broader data engineering requirements.
  • Data Organisation and Management: Understand our key data sources including sales and sell-through data, data from vendors and online. Ensure new pipelines built to support AI tools follow good engineering and governance practice.

You will bring:
  • A good understanding of machine learning and AI techniques. We are looking for an individual who would complement our existing strengths in AI and ML – therefore we are particularly interested in reinforcement learning, analysing speech/video and ML related statistical analysis of data (e.g. Bayesian analysis and causality).
  • Experience with Python and ideally PySpark and/or DataBricks as well as a good understanding of SQL. Experience with machine learning relevant libraries like pandas, scikit-learn, pytorch and optuna will be expected.
  • Knowledge of the following technologies is not required but may be advantageous: MLFlow, AzureML, Azure DevOps, FeatureStore, Treasure Data, Dataiku.
  • Excellent organisational & time management skills with ability to successfully manage and prioritise numerous time pressured analytical activities and projects.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and influentially both verbally and in writing
  • Relevant degree or strong knowledge and experience in computer science/statistics/machine learning
  • Fluent in English
