The Opportunity…

Help drive the transition to net zero and transform data into actionable insights with EDF’s dynamic Commercial & Performance team. We’re looking for a passionate and skilled Senior Data Scientist to develop automated ML models, optimize customer acquisition, and enhance our data foundations.

Pay, benefits and culture

In addition to a starting salary of £53,000, potential to earn 5% bonus, 28 days of annual leave plus bank holidays and a market-leading pension scheme, we offer a range of flexible benefits to support our people across all aspects of their lives.

Your rewards package includes a choice of benefits, such as electric vehicle leasing, enhanced parental leave, health insurance, discounts and employee pricing.

Flexible working means you can work from home (if you wish) and we’ll provide a suite of IT equipment to ensure that you can work remotely comfortably and effectively. The team usually like to get together at least once a week at one of our EDF offices for collaborative working.

At EDF, everyone’s welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself. We’re committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application, making adjustments as you need.

We’ll value the difference you bring and offer opportunities for you to thrive and succeed.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop and implement automated machine learning models to optimize acquisition activities and maximize customer lifetime value.
  • Utilize predictive analytics to enhance the sales funnel, reduce churn, and increase renewal rates.
  • Strengthen data foundations by integrating new data and improving dashboards with advanced customer value and propensity scores.
  • Collaborate with Solutions & Automation to manage and optimize the machine learning pipeline.
  • Conduct exploratory and big data analytics to generate actionable insights.
  • Partner with key business areas to ensure data requirements are clear and align deliverables with business needs.
  • Contribute to agile ceremonies, promote innovative data uses, and build team knowledge in data science techniques.

Who you are

  • Embrace agile working principles with a proven track record in inspiring teams and fast-paced delivery.
  • Exhibit an all-hands-on-deck mentality, delivering exceptional customer experiences and leading by example.
  • Promote a growth mindset and continuous learning within the team, fostering development and maintaining competency frameworks.
  • Challenge the status quo, driving innovation and finding new solutions to market challenges.
  • Proficient in Python, data modelling, ETL tools, and advanced machine learning techniques.
  • Experience with advanced data analytics frameworks like AWS SageMaker, or a strong desire to master these tools.
  • Experience with visualisation tools like Tableau or a strong desire to master this tool
  • Translate high-level intents into actionable requirements, leveraging strong business knowledge for meaningful insights.

Our team will be committed to continuous development and all roles will provide pathways for continuous learning and development. We would be particularly interested to hear from candidates with skills in these areas, but don’t expect you to have full knowledge of all of them.

If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
