Job Description

Full job description

Our Company :

We are a new start-up working in the green homes space: our vision is to make sustainable homes achievable for all. We are a small, purpose-driven team, at a very exciting time in the company’s development.

We are highly collaborative: we pitch in wherever we’re needed and we encourage ideas from all areas of the business. Typically for a start-up, sometimes we have to embrace the chaos – we need someone who is excited for the challenge and opportunity this stage of business development brings.

Data Engineer/Architect – Job Description:

We are building digital twins of homes, which are complex systems (and sometimes complicated ones!). We build models for these digital twins and it’s quite important to look at data considering the real-world, with lots of inaccuracy and volatile contexts. We don’t look at data as just numbers in a table, and do not consider a pure theoretical approach to them.

We need someone that, like us, loves data, helping us to build our analytical models and our own algorithms, with a good statistical/ML knowledge. We want creatives that prefer to analyse the context and the problem, the real information behind the numbers, before any “computational work”.

DON’T apply as a full stack developer. DON’T apply as an expert in data science tools.

Background in Engineering/Architecture/Physics/Mathematics would be an advantage.

This role is not suitable for candidates with no professional experience in a similar role.

We have a very open, collaborative team and are working hard to build a welcoming culture where we constantly bounce ideas off each other. As part of this, we are primarily office-based. The successful candidate must be willing to commute to our offices in Cumberland Basin most days, although we are open to flexible arrangements.

Main Responsibilities:

  • design data architecture by dealing with specific business problems and aligning it to enterprise-wide standards and principles, showing an awareness that data needs to be aligned to the needs of the end user
  • prepare and manipulate data, and perform complex analytics
  • reverse-engineer data models from a live system / real-world problems
  • document source-to-target mappings
  • write ETL (extract, transform, load) scripts and code to ensure the ETL process performs optimally
  • create basic visuals and presentations, explaining the concepts and principles of data modelling
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, sales teams, and other stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Professional experience working in a data analysis and/or data engineering role, preferably in a software development environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • support and host discussions within a multidisciplinary team, with potentially difficult dynamics
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own time.

Benefits:

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Open to discussions around flexible working

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £40,000.00-£48,000.00 per year

Schedule:

Experience:

  • working: 4 years (required)

Work authorisation:
