Are you passionate about working with data & analytics? Do you have experience leading teams and delivering innovative solutions? Our Data & Analytics team is growing, and this exciting new role will provide technical expertise on Advanced Analytics (AA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions that inform and support business decisions.
Once settled in your new role we’d like you to utilize your deep understanding and technical experience to develop, maintain, monitor, and govern Advanced Analytics and Artificial Intelligence solutions i.e. machine learning and deep learning models. Reporting to the Head of Data & Analytics and represented on the Leadership team, you will effectively communicate the activity alignment to both the data and business strategy. Your mission
Lead and develop a small team of data scientists and analytics engineers, with accountability for performance evaluation and resourcing decisions
Create new AA and AI capabilities for the business by envisioning and executing strategies that will influence business performance and benefit our members by enabling informed decision making.
Advocate a cultural change and understanding of when AA and AI should be used to resolve business challenges
Developing strategies for effective data analysis and model build.
Ensure appropriate governance (including data ethics) of all aspects of AA and Data Science capabilities.
Support and drive the definition and delivery of our Data strategy and alignment of value from analytics activity
Skills & experience that will set you up for success in this role:
Previous technical leadership and responsibility developing analytical concepts and implementing models to solve business problems
Experience of managing and developing a small team of data scientists, including resource deployment, setting direction and performance reviews
Demonstrable experience working cross-functionally to increase collaboration and understanding of the value in using data science more effectively to support business objectives
Confident explaining data science concepts and technologies to business leaders, selling ideas and educating on process to internal and external stakeholders, including board level
Customer focused, with experience managing both internal and external stakeholders
Additional (desirable)* skills & experience that we would welcome to our team:*
Experience working with Agile methodologies in a dynamic environment
Knowledge of Excel, R and SQL; familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, SAS)
A degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Science or equivalent
Knowledge of general insurance and automotive distribution channels and products
You have excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain and translate data science concepts to a non-technical audience. Your analytical mindset and customer-focused approach makes you adept at problem solving and implementing solutions. You have the ability to empathise and connect with people, enabling you to build trusted relationships at all levels. You love storytelling and sharing knowledge with others, adapting your communication style effortlessly. Perks & Benefits
